How is it that shows like Samantha Who and Arrested Development get canceled, yet Gary Unmarried is able to remain on the television for not one, but two increasingly painfull seasons? This show is basically about a divorced couple sharing custody of their two children. The acting is terrible, the writing is even worse and each time the kids are a scene I want to blow my brains out. The son is pretty much portrayed as the "slow kid" and the daughter as the "brain" yet both "actors" make me feel like I'm watching a bad high school play. This show is to comedy what McDonald's is to gourmet cooking.
Now, I don't mind Jay Mohr (who plays the main character), but Jay, do you really have to yell your lines? I'm surprised those standing in front of him don't have to wipe their faces off when he is done. He is always running around maniacally. I can see why he is unmarried!
To possibly keep things interesting, the writers keep taunting us with a background storyline of sexual tension between the divorced couple that makes you want them to knock boots so we can stop watching the annoying banter between them.
Please can this clueless-dude programming, and while your at it CBS, blow Two and a Half Men and Katie Couric away as well!
